Abstract
This chapter delves into the potential analogies between skins of different locomotor interfaces. The material presented spans the factors that contribute to feasible properties, and behavior, and prediction of one skin type based on knowing key information from a bas skin type. The chapter starts by comparing the topographical features of snakeskin to those of human skin to emphasize metrological compatibility. Following such an exposition, we introduce the strategy of maintaining structural integrity and snakes by manipulating the sequence of material layering in order to reduce the amount of friction energy able to penetrate the friction surface during motion. The material presented provides examples of customized functional layering that may provide the logic for future 4-D printing operations
