Abstract

This chapter raises the problems of colonial wars in the modern world. According to the generally accepted point of view, the elimination of the colonial system had been completed by the end of the twentieth century, as a result of which 90 independent new states arose. But in practice, colonialism has not ceased to exist, but rather continues developing, though in new hybrid forms. Despite numerous international legal norms which were adopted to combat colonialism, more developed countries have repeatedly resorted to armed intervention to restore their interests on the territories they once controlled, including the establishment of a political regime loyal to them, since the end of the last century.
