Abstract
This chapter explores the relationship between higher education leadership and organizational innovation. Through their actions, leaders can guide organizations toward becoming more innovative. Visionary leaders initiate and implement changes that help a higher education institution adapt to the rapidly changing higher education market. The chapter specifically focuses on how leaders are in a key position to drive organizational innovation through their leadership behavior. It also delves into how higher education leaders support innovation by influencing strategic decisions, policies, and procedures. Leaders in higher education who support innovation and flexibility can be seen as key agents for promoting changes by displaying commitment to it and effectively communicating with employees at all levels of the hierarchical structure. Finally, the chapter explores varying leadership styles to enhance an evolving understanding of how change occurs in higher education.
