Abstract
This chapter explores the Coming Together Culture Program (CTCP), a transformative initiative for Black high school students aimed at promoting college readiness. Utilizing Critical Race Theory and the concept of Black Joy, the CTCP offers culturally-engaging campus visits to higher education institutions, specifically predominantly White Institutions (PWIs), fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment. The author shares personal experiences and social positionalities in this chapter as they vastly influenced the creation of the CTCP and their career in higher education. The chapter highlights the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing Black students' educational experiences and challenges traditional practices in higher education. It underscores the importance of innovative strategies and continuous advocacy in nurturing diverse student populations and contributing to a more equitable academic landscape.
