Calculation of Groundwater Flow and Drainage Under Regulation of Water-Physical Conditions on the Reclaimed Lands of Polesie

Abstract

The urgency of improving the methods of calculation of the groundwater flow regulation due to global warming as applied to the soil-climate conditions of the Polesie zone of Ukraine is discussed. The calculation schemes of drainage, which are typical for Polesie, are systematized. Recommendations on accounting for the hydrodynamic resistance in the calculations of imperfect drainage are given. A number of engineering methods are presented. They are intended, firstly, for prediction of the water table (WT) dynamics against the background of a single and systematic horizontal drain laid in the uniform ground or in the upper or lower layers of the two-layer ground, secondly, theoretical substantiation of the drainage design parameters (depth of laying drain, distance between regular drains). The dependencies for the calculation of regular drainage systems operating in the draining or subsurface wetting regimes are given. Proposals on additional consideration of influence of open conductive network and molehills system on the WT regime of temporarily waterlogged lands.
