Abstract
This chapter will deal with start-ups and a comparison of their position in the Czech Republic and EU. At the beginning of the chapter, the concept of start-ups will be defined. Then their market status will be described (statistics on the number of start-ups). Furthermore, statistics on the development and number of start-ups in the Czech Republic and other European countries will be presented. The text will explain the perceived value of a start-up in terms of its potential for future profitability.
