Abstract
With the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, the use of big data is becoming increasingly prevalent in providing personalized care to patients. This capter presents a comprehensive analysis of the utilization of big data in the healthcare industry for improving patient outcomes, reducing expenses, and enhancing the patient experience. The study highlights the potential of systems biology, wearable devices, electronic health records, structural MRI, and mobile/web applications for healthcare while also exploring the challenges and limitations concerning big data. The chapter emphasizes the need for healthcare providers to invest in technical infrastructure, data governance, and training and education to fully leverage the potential of big data in healthcare by prioritizing patient privacy and security to improve the lives of patients around the world. The chapter identifies promising opportunities in precision medicine, predictive analytics, population health management, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and patient engagement.
