Abstract
Rapid detection and quantization of microparticles whose size is comparable to biological entities provide a new avenue for rapid diagnosis and clinical applications. There are various methodologies that have been adopted for the detection and quantification of these micro entities like changes in permittivity, medium impedance, magnetic permeability, and other means. Recently, microfluidics plays an important role in the process of detection and diagnosis of these microparticles by using chip-based techniques. In this work, the authors reviewed the necessity of microfluidic devices, various designs for rapid detection, processes of device fabrication, and range of applicability. Recent research papers have been selected and studied. The outcomes of these papers are presented systematically in the chapter.
