Abstract
Preparing effective educators spans a continuum from initial preparation of early childhood to K-12th grades as well as beyond to the advanced preparation of education leaders across specialized licensure areas. This preparation requires the cultivation of strong content knowledge, deep pedagogical skills, and the ability to display professional dispositions. The field of educational research has lagged behind in producing research around measuring educator professional dispositions. This chapter focuses on one public university's journey in reimagining, developing, and monitoring professional dispositions within a cadre of educator preparation programs. It includes descriptions of assessment development, administration, training experiences for candidates, findings from assessment data collected over multiple cycles of data collection, and lessons learned within and across programs. This chapter concludes by sharing recommendations for other educator preparation programs that may aid in nurturing educator professional dispositions.
