Abstract
The sustainable development paradigm has augmented the previous growth and development perspectives. The advent of environmental economics has prompted the United Nations to draft sustainable development goals that have to be achieved by 2030. In this perspective, emission of CO2, is considered to be responsible for global temperature rise along with several other maladies that have caught the attention of governments all over the world. In this regard, access to clean fuel and access to electricity is considered to reduce per capita CO2 emissions and pave the way for the fulfillment of the SDGs. In this background, the present chapter leads an empirical investigation through a panel data analysis considering the Asian countries over four years (2016-2019). The finding is quite contrary to the usual belief and the finding of the other researchers who have dealt with the same topic.
