Abstract
Little research has highlighted the integration of gender equality policies in the training of future teachers. Based on this, this study aimed to (1) integrate the study of basic gender laws and policies in teacher training, and (2) analyze the knowledge of future teachers about laws, plans and policies linked to gender equality. The research was evaluative, formative, and qualitative. Ninety-two students enrolled in the Primary Education Teacher Degree participated. The findings showed an insufficient initial knowledge of the students about important gender legislation and policies. At the end of the experience, a better knowledge of regulations, especially national ones, was observed. Although knowledge of gender legislation and policies is not a determining issue in the gender training of future teachers, it helps develop an awareness of gender equality.
