Abstract
Sustainable supply chain management has emerged as a critical concern in the petroleum transportation industry, driven by the growing global demand for energy and increasing environmental concerns. As petroleum products play a significant role in meeting energy needs worldwide, ensuring their safe and efficient transportation is crucial. However, the petroleum sector faces numerous challenges throughout its supply chain. This chapter aims to explore these challenges and their implications for sustainable supply chain management in petroleum transportation. With issues such as carbon emissions, water pollution, and resource depletion, this chapter will provide insights into the complexities of achieving sustainability within this industry and highlight potential strategies to overcome these challenges. Hence, in this chapter, an effort is taken to prioritize challenges of the petroleum industries by using the WASPAS (weighted aggregate sum and product assessment) method. The managers or stakeholders can take necessary steps in taking action against petroleum transportation.
