Abstract

Sustainability continues to be one of the most commonly discussed trends within the hotel industry. Sustainability has become a matter of concern for both individuals and corporations. Hotel chains develop environmental sustainability practices, mainly for cost-reduction purposes, accommodating the owners' demands for efficiency. Notwithstanding, there are differences according to the chain's size. This study aimed to identify sustainable hotel practices in the Sunyani Municipality of Ghana. The hospitality industry is starting to take responsibility for environmental sustainability. A strong focus on energy, waste, and water usage is directly linked with financial benefits in the operation of the hoteliers. Practices connected to the social aspect of sustainability are less developedThe hotels accepted and executed water and liquid waste management more than any other sustainable practice, and consumer demand was the element that drove these behaviours. It is advised that hotels create and execute a strategy for environmental management that will help to mitigate these consequences.
