Abstract
The Indian aviation industry is poised for exponential growth but faces critical challenges in ensuring employee work-life balance, especially among ground staff. This comparative study of Jet Airways and Indigo Airlines reveals significant differences in employee perceptions of key work-life balance factors like overtime, after-hours work, holidays, and training frequency. Indigo employees reported relatively higher satisfaction levels, suggesting more progressive HR practices. However, both airlines struggled with issues like long work hours and frequent travel, indicating industry-wide concerns. The findings underscore the urgent need for Indian airlines to prioritize employee well-being through flexible policies, robust engagement initiatives, and a supportive work culture. Failure to address these challenges can lead to high attrition, low morale, and reduced competitiveness in the long run. The study offers valuable insights and recommendations for airlines to enhance work-life balance and emerge as employers of choice in a dynamic industry landscape.
