Abstract
This chapter presents the three-course meal model for socially and culturally responsive online learning modules. Grounded in techno-oriented and critical perspectives, the model applies funds of knowledge and social presence theories to foster a learning environment that values students' backgrounds and promotes community engagement. It highlights how incorporating students' personal and cultural assets through the #ThisIsMe section and promoting a sense of community via warm-up and coffee break activities can enhance the online learning experience beyond mere digital interaction. Additionally, the chapter examines the development stages of the model and evaluates students' feedback for its perceived effectiveness in creating socially and culturally engaging online learning. Practical applications and instructional strategies are provided to assist online educators and course designers establish more dynamic and inclusive online courses.
