Abstract
Sustainable development is an approach to using natural resources without damaging or destroying them. It is a planned strategy to meet the needs by using the available resources in a sustainable manner along with conserving the resources for future generations. The aim of this chapter was to explore the sustainable development ideas of Kazi Nazrul Islam through his writings and to explore his view on the relevance of sustainable development. This study revealed that Nazrul emphasized and highlighted on gender equality, equal rights for men and women, remove untouchability and caste discrimination, to establish united society by removing religious bigotry, establishment of a non-communal human society thoughts in three dimensions (social, economic, and environmental) through his poems, music such as ‘Amader Nari,' ‘Manush,” “Prarthona,' ‘Samyabadi,” From the chapter it is revealed that Nazrul's beliefs are highly relevant when we discuss sustainable development.
