Abstract
As it explores the critical success factors influencing public-private partnerships in the development of infrastructure, this book chapter mainly focuses on sustainability. PPPs are growing in popularity as an option of funding and implementing infrastructure projects in both developed and developing nations, because of the potential advantage they may have over conventional government procurement. This chapter highlights the PPP characteristics along with potential benefits for sustainable development. It assesses the effectiveness of PPPs in creating infrastructure and places special emphasis on essential components for successful sustainability. The chapter finishes with recommendations for the government as well as people in the private sector considering PPPs. It stresses the importance of PPPs in supporting sustainable infrastructure internationally.
