Abstract
Occupational health and safety (OHS) culture is one of the critical indicators of the sustainable development level of regions. There is a need to analyse the performance of development regions in terms of occupational health and safety, which directly affects the productivity of businesses, in order for Turkish Development Regions to progress socioeconomically and to eliminate inequalities between each other. A hybrid MCDM approach integrating AHP and TOPSIS methods is used to rank the occupational accidents and diseases-based performances of Turkish Development Regions. 11 sub-criteria are determined for the comparison of 26 alternatives. The weights of the criteria are calculated by the AHP method, and the Development Regions are ranked by the TOPSIS method. In conclusion, the development agencies should attach more importance to occupational health and safety than ever before by taking into account the human factor which is the basis of sustainable development.
