Abstract
This chapter is the development of a microstrip fed dual band antenna with a low-profile, small, and flexible structure, utilizing an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) and microstrip feed. The antenna is biocompatible and operates at resonant at 3.5 GHz for 5G applications and 5.7 GHz catering to C band applications like Wi-Fi. In order to render the suggested antenna biocompatible, a 3x3 array of AMC is integrated. This array functions to augment the FBR, thereby improving overall parameters when in contact with living human tissues. From the simulation of the microstrip fed dual band antenna with AMC, the result indicates the improved parameters of the antenna gain is 3.91dB and 4.87dB, bandwidth of 340MHz and 480MHz, Front to Back ratio is 12.6dB and 161.8dB with a radiation efficiency of 84% and 85% in 3.5GHz and 5.7GHz resp. The antenna having flexibility, improved gain and improved FBR makes it good for wearable antenna applications.
