Abstract

This chapter discusses the incorporation of information and communication technology (ICT) through the utilisation of e-menus and tablets as a viable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional paper menus and kitchen order tickets (KOTs) within the restaurant sector. By utilising ICT innovations, this transition not only improves operational efficiency but also contributes to the attainment of specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hence, the adoption of e-menus and tablets in restaurants can contribute to the attainment of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being; SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities; SDG 12: Promoting Responsible Consumption and Production; SDG 13: Climate Action; and SDG 15: Life on Land. Thus, the adoption of digital menus and kitchen order tickets (KOTs) plays a significant role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
