Abstract
There is an important value in human-machine collaborations using artmaking generative AI tools: that is, the preservation of the human hand (the human mental-emotional-embodied manual contribution) in the artwork. One way to ensure the original look-and-feel involves using multimodal prompts—both text and visual—with a twist. The visual may be one that is human-generated—either born-analog (and then digitized) or born-digital (such as imagery created on tablets or laptops, on digital drawing systems)—in a way that is unrelated or only peripherally related to the text prompt. This chapter explores how to craft seeding imagery for use in artmaking generative AI tools for innovations in color, color blends, textures, layouts, various perspectives, style blends, and others. This work describes some early ways to introduce human-touch novelty in seeding imagery from analog and digital approaches.
