Abstract
This chapter deals with the topic of dynamic relationship between culture and management, exploring varying perspectives from the culture-free thesis to the culture-bound outlook. It goes through the studies of Laurent and his Western management styles, Hofstede, and Trompenaars' multifaceted cultural dimensions. Additionally, it examines the GLOBE Study, which synthesized cross-cultural theories, and acknowledges contributions by Triandis, Schneider, Boisot, and Sorge. The chapter addresses the issue of freedom and limitations within cultural action, contemplating the implications in management practices. This comprehensive review not only addresses the methodological aspects but also encompasses the substantive content of culture in the realm of management, offering a multifaceted understanding of its impact, significance, and application within organisational frameworks.
