Abstract
This study aims to provide curriculum recommendations for accounting majors, elaborated with service learning methods. Based on the nature of accounting, service learning is not a commonly used method in accounting pedagogy. This refers to accounting learning content closer to achieving quantitative skills rather than social skills—achieved through intense classroom interaction and case-based learning methods. Nevertheless, the demands of the professional world point to more complex requirements than technical skills. In addition, given that the world is moving towards sustainable growth, social skills are also a need that needs to be recognized by universities. Through this chapter, the author offers ideas that can be an alternative accounting learning method elaborated with service learning activities. Researchers also provide examples of classroom activities that can be accommodated using service learning methods. Research data analysis shows that service learning is proven to develop students' skills comprehensively and is also beneficial for community partners and higher education institutions.
