Abstract

The unremitting challenges of healthcare access and equity are essential to our contemporary society. Acknowledging progress while underlining persistent disparities disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations is critical for health practitioners, policymakers, and global leaders. Against a geopolitical shift from a bipolar to a multipolar world characterized by increased connectivity and turbulence, the role of non-state actors in managing global health crises is indispensable. Recognizing the growing influence of these non-state actors, faith-based organizations emerge as essential partners. With their values, community ties, and dedication to service, these organizations compelled by faith-driven leadership are uniquely positioned to address global health disparities. This chapter thoroughly examines the roles and functions of faith-based organizations in healthcare, emphasizing their potential to bridge the access and equity gap in global health.
