Abstract

The upcoming 6G wireless networks aims to provide substantial improvements over existing 5G networks. These include improvements in data rate, latency, reliability, and connectivity. To enable these goals, significant advancements in all aspects of wireless communication systems are required. The major factor of communication hardware is antenna design. System on chip (SoC) antennas can be directly integrated with transceiver circuitry. These designs can meet the demanding performance requirements of 6G networks. In this chapter, recent advancements in SoC antenna technology for 6G communication systems are discussed. The key challenges that need to be addressed are also discussed. Literature related to the development of wideband millimeter wave antennas with beamforming capabilities is presented. Research directions related to modeling, design and implementation are identified to guide future work in this area.
