Abstract
The marine ecosystem, one of Earth's most vital and diverse environments, spans from sunlit surface waters to deep ocean trenches. It supports a vast array of life forms, from microscopic phytoplankton to colossal whales, and plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and providing essential services for human well-being. Understanding and managing this complex system is critical, especially with increasing human impacts and environmental changes. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool in environmental monitoring, revolutionizing the collection, processing, and interpretation of vast data related to natural systems. Environmental monitoring covers biodiversity, land use, air and water quality, and climate change indicators. Traditional methods, reliant on manual data collection and analysis, are costly, time-consuming, and limited in scope. AI enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and scope of these efforts, supporting more effective ecosystem management and conservation strategies.
