Abstract
Blending learning (BL) has emerged as one of the effective teaching and learning approaches in education, and research on the deployment of BL has been extensively conducted. This book chapter sets to present a mixed-methods study exploring Vietnamese L2 students' perceptions of the effects of BL on their English vocabulary enhancement. A cohort of 300 L2 students studying general English (GE) at a Ho Chi Minh City-based university in Vietnam took part in answering a questionnaire, and 15 of them participated in semi-structured interviews. Statistical analysis and content analysis were employed for quantitative and qualitative data analysis, respectively, and the sociolinguistic perspective was adopted for interpreting the results. The findings unraveled that Vietnamese L2 students perceived the effects of the deployment of BL in GE courses on their vocabulary enhancement as they could remember a wide range of vocabulary, recognize vocabulary meaning in context, and apply vocabulary in writing and speaking effectively.
