Abstract

Peru's indigenous peoples who reside in the Andean highlands, the Quechua communities, face climate change's harsh realities. This chapter unveils how tourism, indigenously led and collaboratively integrated, offers an opportunity for resiliency. Here, traditional knowledge combined with modern resilience strategies present a hopeful narrative for adaptation. Through community-based tourism, the Quechua not only safeguard their cultural heritage but also forge sustainable pathways for economic development. This symbiotic approach highlights tourism's potential as a catalyst for climate resilience, demonstrating the importance to reimagine indigenous roles in conservation and cultural exchange.
