Abstract
The design of nanocoatings and nanostructured based surfaces stands out in many fields and biomedical applications due to their superior advantages over traditional coatings. With current nanotechnological approaches, properties such as antimicrobial activity, biocompatibility, increased product life-time, quality interface bonding, enhanced chemical and mechanical properties, high hardness, heat insulation, dirt and water repellency, corrosion resistance, improved energy efficiency, and reduced moisture absorption have been significantly improved. In recent years, the use of NPs and nanocoatings in the design and development of many dental materials has become highly popular in dentistry due to their ability to provide unique combinations of properties. This section will primarily focus on nanocoating materials used in dentistry.
