Abstract
The fourth industrial revolution creates a digital world that enables the activation of intelligent systems, allowing virtual and physical systems to cooperate flexibly with each other. This world, designed on ICT, blurs the lines between physical and virtual, and makes it necessary to develop educational environments by digital technologies. This development is described as Education 4.0. Integration with the education fields in general, and design fields in particular, into Education 4.0 requires acquiring new skills and competencies. The social transformation experienced with Industry 4.0 requires solving rapidly changing, more numerous, and complex problems and meeting changing needs. So, the study aims to reveal the characteristics of Education 4.0,and what kinds of technological infrastructure required for it. In particular, it stands out with its potential for developing design education within the Education 4.0 framework. It aims to reveal immersive technologies and their types, technology-based immersive experiences, immersive learning experiences, and the opportunities of these experiences for design education.
