Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has wielded considerable influence over diverse facets of contemporary society, including the intricate dynamics of research libraries. This chapter undertakes an in-depth exploration of AI's profound impact on library functionalities, services, and user interfaces. Through an exhaustive review of scholarly works and empirical studies, the authors scrutinize how AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and data analytics are fundamentally altering the landscape of information retrieval, resource curation, and scholarly discourse within research libraries. Moreover, they delve into the nuanced challenges and prospects stemming from the integration of AI, encompassing concerns regarding privacy, algorithmic bias, and the evolving roles and responsibilities of librarians. By grasping and leveraging AI's potent influence, research libraries can adeptly navigate and thrive amidst the swiftly evolving digital milieu, thereby amplifying their support for scholarly pursuits and the dissemination of knowledge.
