Abstract
This chapter examines the role of assistive technology (AT) in inclusive education, aimed at providing equal learning opportunities for all students. AT tools such as screen readers, speech-to-text software, and augmentative communication devices are fundamental in expanding full participation and accessibility. These technologies eliminate barriers to educational content, aiding in the expression and engagement of students with diverse needs. Implementing AT in classrooms involves careful planning, teacher training, and curriculum adjustments. The proficiency of educators in utilizing AT is decisive for effectively supporting diverse learners. This chapter also explores the broader impacts of AT, including improving communication, promoting language development, and making educational content universally accessible. It justifies the importance of continuous professional development and thoughtful technology selection, for promoting a structured approach with equality, acceptance, and diversity in education.
