Leveraging Case Studies in Business Education

Abstract

The integration of case studies in business education has gained prominence globally as an effective pedagogical approach to connect theory to practice. In current study, the authors, through semi-structured interviews with 12 faculty members from different business schools, explore faculty perceptions, challenges, and strategies related to the integration of case studies. Thematic analysis reveals key themes, including the perceived benefits of case-based learning, factors influencing case study adaptation, challenges encountered by faculty, and strategies to overcome these challenges. Findings underscore how faculty development, industrial collaboration, curriculum integration with businesses, technology integration, and advocacy for flexible higher education policies to enhance the utilization of case studies in business education. The study enhances understanding of how teaching methods are shaped in Pakistani business schools and suggests ways to improve case study usage, thereby enhancing student learning and readiness for real-world business challenges.
