Challenges to Finding a Solution to the (Im)Migration Problem

Abstract

Self-assured believers have been knowingly highlighting a Christianization of public morality that indirectly aligned itself with conservative evangelical and Catholic movements to support theistic religion as a handmaid of politics. But, by sending the wrong signal to political authorities and giving a pass to the partisan's politically cruel, inhumane, thoughtless, evasive, or negligent behavior, many believers of good will have become entangled by Christian nationalism, which often overlaps with the conservative Christian political agenda. Accordingly, there has been a heavy price paid for trying to gain such theocratic footholds in government and mainstream popular culture in the broader U.S. Not surprisingly, harmonious social relations and social justice are a tough act to sell to self-assured believers, carefully focused on the larger landscape of the political applications of the Christian faith—trying to exert power over others while still regarding themselves as a good moral people of God.
