Abstract
The subject of food security and sustainable development has occupied great attention at all global levels, both theoretical and applied aspects. The World Health Organization defines the concept of food security as “all the necessary conditions and standards required during the processes of production, manufacturing, storage, distribution, and preparation of food to ensure that it is safe, reliable, healthy, and suitable for human consumption. The causes of the global food crisis are due to several factors, the most important of which are weather fluctuations, the worsening phenomenon of drought, the decline in food stocks, the decline in agricultural sector productivity, the growing and unprecedented rise in the prices of basic foodstuffs, the rise in fuel prices, and the use of agricultural products to produce alternative fuels. Given the multiple causes of this crisis, experts agree that it will be long-term, as they consider it an intertwined and difficult problem.
