Abstract
Based on the oriental wealth choice database, the relationship between entrepreneurship, business environment, and firm performance is empirically examined by establishing a linear regression model with the data of Chinese Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed manufacturing firms from 2015 to 2022 as the research sample. The results indicate that entrepreneurship has a positive and significant effect on firm performance; the business environment has a negative but weak effect on firm performance; the business environment has a moderating effect, and entrepreneurship can be further stimulated by improving it, and ultimately improve firm performance. Based on the above findings, the following recommendations are proposed: firstly, listed firms in the manufacturing industry should strengthen the cultivation and stimulation of entrepreneurship. Secondly, efforts should be made to continuously improve the business environment. Lastly, it is essential to fully utilize moderating effect of the business environment.
