Abstract

The threat posed by rogue access points (RAPs) has grown significantly in importance for network security as a result of the growing use of wireless local area networks (WLANs). This work proposes a novel RAP detection method that makes use of multi-parameter dynamic WLAN properties. This chapter addresses the rising problem of rogue access points (RAPs) in wireless local area networks (WLANs) and suggests a new RAP detection approach that makes better use of multi-parameter dynamic features of WLAN. The proposed approach provides a comprehensive evaluation of each access point's unique characteristics and reduces susceptibility to RAPs. The study compared the proposed approach with four other RAP detection methods using metrics such as detection rate, false positive rate, customizability, and computational resources required. Results showed that the proposed approach achieves 98.7% detection rate with lower false positive rates and greater customizability than the other methods. The proposed RAP detection can effectively detect RAPs in wireless networks and enhance network security.
