Abstract
Effective methodologies for optimizing business value creation in software projects are needed in the dynamic landscape of the software sector. The use of the AHP as a powerful decision-making tool to improve business value from software projects is explored in this chapter. A complete overview of the challenges faced by organizations in software development shall be given at the start of this chapter. AHP emerges as a viable solution, offering a structured framework to evaluate and prioritize criteria that contribute to business value creation. The chapter introduces the basic principles of AHP, explains its hierarchical structure and pairwise comparison methodology in an effort to set the stage. The practical application of AHP in the software project lifecycle is the next section of the chapter. Critical aspects in which AHP could have a significant impact on value creation are assessed as stakeholder involvement, priority for requests, and allocation of resources. Finally, the chapter underlines the transformative impact of AHP on creating business value from software projects.
