Abstract
At the intersection of coaching and learning, the authors in this chapter explore, from both an educator and student perspective, the enablers within pedagogical practice that lead to effective leadership education. The particular phenomenograhic research approach led to the key findings that are outlined in this chapter. This chapter is rooted in a number of relational learning perspectives where the authors see relational coaching as an element of ensuring relational learning within the teaching of leadership development. Concepts and models include those from Trigwell and Prosser, Taff et al., and Stewart. The authors discuss themes surrounding the problems that may be encountered by coaches and mentors of leadership. This discussion is based on 2023 empirical research where specific examples of relational and network development are encouraged, and the authors propose methods for how these challenges may be overcome with the aim of achieving effective leadership education and development.
