Abstract
This chapter explores the innovative fusion of wearable sensor technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in the context of natural disaster preparedness and response. Wearable sensors, designed to be seamlessly integrated into clothing or accessories, offer a dynamic and personal approach to monitoring individuals in disaster-prone areas. Coupled with advanced AI algorithms, these sensors empower individuals and authorities with real-time data, early warning capabilities, and personalized assistance during critical events. The chapter begins by examining the functionalities of wearable sensors specifically engineered for disaster scenarios. These sensors include biometric monitors measuring vital signs such as heart rate, body temperature, and respiratory rate. Additionally, environmental sensors incorporated into wearables detect changes in air quality, temperature, and humidity, providing a comprehensive understanding of immediate surroundings. The integration of AI algorithms into wearable sensor systems is a central focus of this chapter.
