Abstract
Of late, the concept of startups has become immensely popular among the people entering the labour market. India, being an emerging economy, is not behind - one can say doing exceedingly well with 3rd rank at the global stage. The concept of startup gained currency since 2016 and became a hot cake of discussion since 2018. This study focuses on getting students' perception about startups and analyzing the factors responsible behind their willingness or non-willingness to start a business of their own. The present study is based on the views of 580 students across eight higher educational institutes. Out of these 580 students, 320 are from UG courses and 260 students are from PG courses—all 580 students pursue either formal or non-formal courses which further signifies the relevance of the study. The application of logit model and the high R-square value of the study suggest that the study has immense significance as it gives the ground level view of the next generation.
