Abstract

One of the most important aspects of modern living is the use of social media platforms to link people globally and facilitate the sharing of ideas, knowledge, and experiences. While social media networks offer numerous benefits, they have also played a role in the alarming trend of social media addiction. This chapter examines the serious consequences that social media addiction has on mental health and overall well-being. The intention is to improve our understanding of this current crisis by highlighting the various ways that excessive use of social media may affect people's psychological and emotional well-being. People increasingly regularly engage with their online networks at the expense of their offline lives due to the extensive use of social media and the allure of constant notifications, likes, and shares.
