Abstract
College science teachers face several challenges worldwide, and Bangladesh is no exception. Several studies addressed various challenges in the context of Bangladeshi college education; however, a gap in terms of addressing the obstacles in college science teaching is identified. This chapter addresses science teachers' perspectives and discusses the impediments to science teaching in Bangladeshi colleges. A total of 12 college science teachers were interviewed using the qualitative data collection approach, and a thematic analysis was conducted. Four specific themes, such as lack of laboratory facilities, insufficient teaching resources, lack of motivation and unplanned study management, were identified as challenges, and the participants provided three ways to overcome this situation. This chapter could help college teachers and administrators understand the challenges and provide a direction for compelling science teaching. The chapter also provides some insights to policymakers regarding the development of science teaching in college.
