Abstract
Hydrogen has emerged as a promising alternative energy carrier, offering the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the latest advances in hydrogen generation and storage systems. It discusses various methods of hydrogen production, including electrolysis, thermochemical processes, and biological approaches, as well as innovations in hydrogen storage technologies such as compressed gas storage, liquid hydrogen, metal hydrides, and chemical hydrogen storage. The chapter also addresses the technical, economic, and environmental challenges associated with these technologies and highlights ongoing research and future directions for the development of efficient and sustainable hydrogen energy systems.
