Abstract
The tourist cities that apply technology help to strengthen and to facilitate the communication of the tourists with the sporting, cultural, and scientific aspects of a city. This chapter aims to be a guide for understanding smart tourism components by presenting a survey of the characteristics, history and future trends. Smart tourism is the innovation and the adoption of information and communication technologies in tourism. Smart tourism additionally must consider natural attractions, cultural (music festival), accessibility of transportation, amenity characteristics, ancillary services (banks, hospitals), innovative hubs for electric vehicles with a mobile app to check the availability status of charging cars, and the infrastructure of professional sports. The smart tourism is the optimal administration of the personnel or object related to the tourism by using technology like the internet of tourism things, data-mining, artificial intelligence, combinatorial optimization, machine learning, and others to enhance the quality of the tourism.
