Abstract

Women's transformative roles in both formal and informal organisations at the international, regional, and national levels are affected by history, development, gender diversity, power relations, gender inequality, and the status of women's rights. From the perspectives of feminist institutionalism and transformational feminist leadership, the transformational roles of women in the public and private sectors are context-dependent. To explore women's role in the achievement of change in public and private sector institutions in Ghana, this chapter focuses on theoretical issues, including women's real-life experiences with regards to the following major topics women's role in politics and their impact on organisational development. Sub-themes related to these topics are also discussed. The chapter ends with a look at the future status of women's transformative roles in the public and private sectors. This chapter provides additional useful insights into how researchers and practitioners could better exploit women's transformative competency for the purpose of inducing changes in individuals, groups, organisations, and in the larger society, with regards to their values, systems, beliefs, practices, and culture.
