Abstract
The present study is a participatory action research entitled “I Learn, Play, and Have Fun With Toys I Make,” which was carried out in a kindergarten, with the participation of the teachers and the preschool students who attended it. The aim of this action research was to upgrade and enrich the educational material in a playful way, by making improvised games, which facilitate and expand the teaching process of the teachers and the learning process of the students. The action research focused primarily on the active involvement of the participating kindergarten students regarding the construction of improvised educational materials, primarily with recyclable materials. As for the research tools, participatory observation, the semi-structured interview, the questionnaire for parents and students, as well as the diary of the participating teachers were selected and used as the most appropriate. The results showed that the specific action research had many benefits for the participating students. An effect on the all-round and balanced development of the students' personalities was evident.
