Abstract
This chapter analyzes the status of the middle class in America. It starts with defining the middle class; it continues with the danger of shrinking and tries to provide a mind genomics approach to middle-class problems. Analyzing the middle class in-depth is essential as it holds the key to the country's future. As the middle class's future does not seem certain, it raises many questions. The middle class is the backbone of both the market economy and democracy in most advanced societies. The results show the relationship between the impact values from the grand model for danger for mindset Segment 1 (economics + emotions) versus mindset Segment 2 (economics only). The two mindset segments agree on the general trend, but it's a matter of the degree of perceived danger for each element. The data show what a perfect agreement would look like.
