Abstract

A growing interest in participatory planning practices in local governments in Poland resulted in the development of new methods supporting citizens' engagement in decision-making processes. The latest solutions in the public participation methods catalog are based on geoweb tools. One of such tools is the geo-questionnaire developed within the project: Geoportal supporting public participation in spatial planning (GEOPLAN) – an R&D project conducted by the interdisciplinary team of researchers from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań supported by IT specialists and urban planning practitioners. The chapter presents the features of PPGIS tools, the development of PPGIS in Poland, the evaluation of the pilot implementations of geo-questionnaires in decision-making processes, and the future of PPGIS in the light of new post-pandemic reality.
