Abstract
Digital health tools have been used in a wide variety of healthcare services including promoting healthy behaviors and improving health outcomes in people with chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease. However, there is no “one size fits all” approach for these digital health tools. The need for individualized designs in order to maximize usability, effectiveness, and sustainability of use among patients has been highlighted. Intelligent health solutions are used to guide the design of effective and personalized tools for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The integration of health behavior theories and well-defined care plans in the intervention/tool are key to ensure maximum effectiveness and benefits to the patients. To this end, this chapter aims to provide a background on digital health tools in cardiovascular health and a detailed overview of the various components of intelligent health solutions that guide the tool design process.
